The career objectives of the Business Office Information Systems program are to train students for entry-level employment as business office specialists with the additional skills of being able to set up, monitor, and maintain basic networking systems.

This course covers how to write effective business requirements and includes proven analytical techniques to identify and analyze business problems. Other topics include how to model business processes using context, data flow, activity, and swim lane diagrams to show workflow, transformations, and scope. Finally, this course gives the student a proven set of business process core techniques, methods, and insights to help students acquire, understand, document, and model business data.
Students learn business grammar and writing basics, telephone and e-mail essentials, basic presentation skills as well as anger management essentials.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT 1
The students will learn how to do business professionally and generate creative and innovative ideas. They will also learn how to optimize their work/life balance and manage their career. Finally, problem solving and decision-making strategies will be reviewed.
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING
This course teaches the student how to develop, interpret, and implement financial concepts for financial planning and control; determine financial performance; and to develop, implement and maintain a general accounting system.
INTERNET AND NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES
Topics covered in this course include an introduction to social networking for users; basic principles of web site design; information security for end users; and an introduction to cloud computing.
Students learn leadership essentials. This includes employee management, how to create a positive work environment and set organizational priorities.
FUNDAMENTALS OF MANAGEMENT
This course covers the essentials of management, performance appraisal, and business coaching. The students also learn how to manage organizational change, talented individuals as well as technical professionals.
MICROSOFT OFFICE – PART 1
Students will be taught the major features, basic, intermediate and advanced, of Microsoft Word and Excel 2016.
MICROSOFT OFFICE – PART 2
Students will be taught the major features, basic and intermediate, of Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint 2016.
MODERN OFFICE TECHNICAL SKILLS
This course covers basic business math concepts and the basics of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CC2015. The basic features of Microsoft Visio 2016 and Windows 10 for end users are also introduced.
SALES AND MARKETING
Students are introduced to the Baho selling method, consulting skills, and global marketing. They also learn how to create a management development program, sales management, and sales strategy.
Students learn how PC components work in unison. They learn hardware troubleshooting techniques. They also learn how to maintain operating systems, networks as well as security.
Students are taught about computer hardware components and about how to install, use, and manage Windows operating systems; and, to configure and troubleshoot peripherals, computers, and printers. They are also instructed in security and network fundamentals, operational procedures, and preventive maintenance.
Students learn network fundamentals, network components, devices and protocols. They also study wide-area and wireless networks, network addressing, routing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security.
Students gain the ability to understand the capabilities of mobile devices and the features of Over-the-Air technologies, including an ability to research new technologies.
This course teaches the students how to optimize their performance on a team and how to lead various types of teams.
